Reiki and Integrated Energy Healing

A person’s “ki” or energy should be strong and free-flowing. When this is true, a person’s body and mind are in a positive state of health.
When the energy in the body becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.

What is Reiki? How can it help you?

Reiki (pronounced ‘ray- key’) is a spiritual healing art with roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei), which means “Universal Life” and (Ki), which means “Energy” and is a powerful technique that unlocks to restore balance and support healing in your body.

The healing and loving energy of Reiki will help to open the blockages in your body’s energy centers (chakras). Blockages can occur as a result of physical injury or emotional distress, illness or disease. Opening the chakras allows healing energy to flow freely, helping your body heal, relieving pain, enabling relaxation, and reducing symptoms of illness. As your body and mind relax, your parasympathetic nervous system is activated bringing healing to the body, mind, and spirit.

Reiki is a safe and gentle, non-invasive and not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not a massage or based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective method of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy. It can do no harm and is always for the person’s highest and greatest good.

What is the role of a Reiki practitioner?

Reiki practitioners channel universal energy and use gentle hand movements to activate and guide the flow of healthy energy through the client’s body to reduce stress, promote healing and restore physical and emotional well-being.

Reiki Practitioners understand that everyone can connect with their healing energy and use it to strengthen energy in themselves and help others.

What are the benefits of Reiki healing?

  • Reiki induces a state of calm and relaxation in the body, enabling healing energy to flow freely throughout the body.
  • Reiki can help resolve emotional distress, ease tension, and promote relaxation. 
  • Reiki treats the whole person – creating feelings of peace, security, well-being and calm, reduced pain and tension as well as stress and anxiety, which can also decrease pain perception.

What can you expect from a Reiki session?
An intake assessment will take place during the first session. You will have the opportunity to discuss any issues or concerns you are experiencing and express any goals you hope to achieve with Laura. 

For each session, you will lie comfortably on a treatment table fully clothed, with no shoes. Gentle music will be playing in the background, and there is no talking. Laura will conduct a series of gentle, non-invasive hand postures, either by applying a light touch, or hands-off, held in a series of locations on the head and torso. If you prefers not to be touched, indicate this to Laura before beginning.

Reiki is a passive experience. There is no need for expectations. Just let the Reiki relax you while enjoying the music and focusing on your breath. Reiki sessions are a great tool for routine self-care and whole-body nourishment.

How many sessions should I receive?
Initially, it is recommended to try at least four sessions to evaluate the benefits you are receiving. The effects of Reiki are cumulative, the more you receive treatments, the more benefits you will experience over time.

How long is a Reiki session?
A Reiki session is between 45-90 minutes in length.
