Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy services are now available at the Women’s Health Centre. We are excited to welcome Bridgit Ganson, Registered Social Worker Psychotherapist, who is now offering virtual psychotherapy sessions.
Psychotherapy, a regulated health service, can help to support your emotional wellbeing and reduce symptoms related to mental health such as insomnia, anxiety, anger or sadness. Talking through your worries, grief or past trauma can help you develop healthy coping mechanisms so you can live a fuller life. Working collaboratively with a therapist can help you build self esteem, improve your social connections and find meaning and purpose in your life.
Why Psychotherapy at the Women’s Health Centre?
The Women’s Health Centre is adding psychotherapy to provide more holistic care that addresses both physical and emotional well-being. Women and gender-diverse individuals often face unique challenges related to identity, health, relationships, and caregiving. Therapy offers a safe, affirming space to process these experiences and build resilience.
Bridgit’s approach to psychotherapy and modalities offered
Bridgit Ganson, MSc, RSW Psychotherapist, takes a warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach to therapy. She integrates evidence-based modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and attachment-based practices. Her work is grounded in a deep respect for each client’s lived experience, emphasizing emotional safety, self-awareness, and meaningful change.
Perinatal Mental Health Focus
Bridgit has a specialized focus and training in perinatal mental health. She works with individuals and couples navigating fertility challenges, pregnancy, pregnancy loss, postpartum adjustment, early parenting, and identity transitions. Her approach is inclusive and affirming, offering compassionate support through some of life’s most complex and tender seasons.
Bridgit works with both individuals and couples navigating perinatal mental health.
How can psychotherapy support women’s health?
Bridgit Ganson offers therapeutic sessions for all adults at the Women’s Health Centre, but she will mostly focus on supporting women and gender-diverse individuals in the perinatal period. This may include fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and loss (pregnancy loss and stillbirth).
Bridgit can help support clients through:
- Fertility challenges and reproductive decision-making
- Assisted reproduction (e.g. IVF, IUI)
- Pregnancy and pregnancy loss
- Stillbirth
- Postpartum mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs)
- Birth trauma
- Grief and identity changes in parenthood
- Relationship and emotional transitions in the perinatal period
- Termination for Medical Reasons
How many therapy sessions might someone need?
The number of sessions varies based on the client’s needs and goals. Some individuals benefit from short-term, solution-focused therapy, while others engage in longer-term work to process more complex experiences.
Bridgit will work with each client to determine what feels supportive and sustainable.
When do you offer psychotherapy services?
Bridgit is available virtually for sessions at the Women’s Health Centre (see our JaneApp for her calendar).
